Students in Brockmann's group create "Tour de Sys: The Traveler's View of a Network"

Daniel Grady and Christian Thiemann, two graduate students of Prof. Brockmann have produced a video in which they visualize and explain, in easy terms, the fundamental idea behind their current research to be presented at the upcoming APS March Meeting.  To better understand the structure of complex networks like the US Aviation System, they reduce the network to only contain the shortest routes from one specific airport to every other.  For each airport, this yields a different perspective on the network from which they can examine its statistical properties.
